In a street interview published June 20, 2026, Tradecon Media asked Elie Yaacoub, the owner of Lakewood Home Services, how his water filtration business got where it is. His answer was not a shortcut. It was the opposite of one.
“Anything that comes fast goes away fast.”
Most businesses fail, in his view, because people get excited, try to grow big too quickly, and do not stay small enough long enough. The long-term grind is the point.
Yaacoub started in the trades at 25 and spent 11 years becoming a master plumber before building companies of his own, first with The Plumbing Expert in Ontario, Canada, and now in Sarasota and Bradenton with Lakewood Home Services. Asked about school, he chose “hard knocks” without blinking: school teaches you to a point, but real-world experience is where the business is actually learned.
He also flipped a saying most people get backwards. It is not what you know, he said. It is who you know, and that matters more.
One practical credit he gave on camera: the software. Lakewood runs on Jobber, which ended the days of scheduling by hand across Google and paper systems, and let the office and the field work off the same page.
