“Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket”: Orangeville Master Plumber Featured in Tradecon Media Interview
The Plumbing Expert’s Elie Yaacoub talks about building businesses in two countries, and why a leader is not the same thing as a boss.
A Levelfield feature on the companies we serve. Levelfield is the marketing agency behind The Plumbing Expert, and this is the kind of story we tell for the companies we serve: real owners, real proof, no polish for its own sake.
Elie Yaacoub did not plan to run businesses in two countries. He planned to never be at the mercy of one slow season again.
In a street interview filmed in Orangeville and published October 31, 2026, Tradecon Media asked the master plumber behind The Plumbing Expert why he expanded his business south. His answer was simple: “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”
“Business is cyclical.”
Work in Canada slows down in the winter. By building in the south as well, where the work runs year-round, one business keeps moving while the other catches its breath. When one area is slow, the other keeps you afloat.
Yaacoub is a master plumber, pipefitter, and gasfitter based in Orangeville. He founded The Plumbing Expert in 2011, taught at Humber College, and now also runs Lakewood Home Services in Sarasota, Florida. The two companies serve two countries, two climates, and two very different busy seasons.
Asked about the difference between a boss and a leader, he did not hesitate. “A leader shows people how to do things,” he said. A boss, in his words, has a leader work under them.
He closed the interview with the three levels he sees in a working life. First you learn, as an apprentice. Then you earn, once you are licensed and building something of your own. Then you return, and give back to your community and your industry.
That last level is why the interview happened at all: a trades business owner, standing in a parking lot in Orangeville, teaching for free.
